Ronin is currently looking to hire a Applications Developer (New York). The individual in this position will be a member of an engineering and development group working on a trading platform in our New York City office. The next generation of this trading platform will be distributed over commodity servers ("grid" or "cloud" computing). The work involves distributed systems, networking, file systems in C/C++ with some Python/Perl. This position is located in our New York City office.

• Work closely with team to design and architect the next generation platform. Be able to formulate, critique and evaluate designs.
• Research and analyze various technical implementations of the platform and articulate the benefits and downsides of each approach.
• Implement complete solutions from the network topology to the hardware configuration to the class hierarchy.
• Closely follow developments in the open source communities and incorporate open source components into the platform.
• Instrument, benchmark and analyze hardware (disks, network interconnects) and software systems (filesystems, messaging layers) for performance related measures like latency and throughput.
• Perform related duties as required.

• Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Strong grasp of the fundamentals of Computer Science (i.e. data structures, algorithms, networking and operating systems).
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience developing engineering solutions and writing code in Linux C/C++ in either academia or industry.
• Fluency in C/C++, STL, multithreading, shared memory, IPC, and the rest of the Unix systems programming toolset.
• Good understanding of distributed systems and parallel programming.
• Previous experience with open source software and ideally have contributed code to those projects.
• High intelligence level with and a love of learning and desire to expand knowledge.
• Strong team player with an appreciation for a collaborative atmosphere and colleagues who can challenge you.
